Stained Glass Quilt is a one-of-a-kind quilt that is approx 73” x 86” in size. It would fit a twin size bed or a larger bed with less overhang.

Nine yards of fabric were hand dyed with cutch, a natural dye, to make the shades of earthy pinks, roses and brick used in this quilt. Over 500 pieces of naturally dyed textile in various colors were cut and sewn to make the colorful grid running throughout the quilt.

The front and back of the quilt were machine pieced, meaning the patchwork is machine sewn. The quilting, meaning the stitches in rectangle shapes throughout, was done by hand with cotton sashiko thread that was hand dyed with cutch to match the quilt. Hand quilting is a very laborious and time consuming process but the impact of the hand stitches cannot be mimicked with a machine.

The binding is hand sewn and is made of cutch dyed textiles.

The quilt has 100% wool batting which makes it very warm and gives it a nice weight.

This quilt is functional but would be best used as bedspread, furniture accent or displayed as art.

Care Instructions

It's best to display quilts away from direct sunlight. Some natural dyes are sensitive to sunlight which can cause fading.

Vacuuming the quilt with a stocking over the vacuum hose is an easy way to remove light dust.

For a deeper clean, professional cleaning is recommended.

For most quilts it is possible to clean by soaking in a tub and handwashing with care using a gentle detergent. Rinse and remove the excess water. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight. Hanging the quilt to dry will put strain on the stitches.

Please do not machine wash.
