Size: 56” x 66”
The Marigold Geese Quilt is made with cotton/linen blend fabric that I hand dyed with marigold flowers to make the shades of yellow and madder root to create the shades of coral and pink. This quilt also incorporates a natural shade of cotton/linen as well as a golden and natural stripe linen. To create this quilt I first pieced a whole flying geese quilt top which I then cut into strips to incorporate as details in this modern and original motif.
The front and back were machine pieced, meaning the patchwork is machine sewn. The quilting, meaning the stitches running throughout, is done by hand with marigold dyed cotton sashiko thread. Hand quilting is a very laborious and time consuming process but the impact of the hand stitches cannot be mimicked with a machine. The binding is a mix of fabrics and is sewn by hand.
This lightweight quilt has 100% cotton batting. It is a functional piece but would be best suited for decorative use - a wall hanging, bed cover or an accent throw for furniture.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
It's best to display quilts away from direct sunlight. Some natural dyes are sensitive to sunlight which can cause fading.
Vacuuming the quilt with a stocking over the vacuum hose is an easy way to remove light dust.
For a deeper clean, professional cleaning is recommended.
For most quilts it is possible to clean by soaking in a tub and handwashing with care using a gentle detergent. Rinse and remove the excess water. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight. Hanging the quilt to dry will put strain on the stitches.
Please do not machine wash.
